Tim Kasher is one of indie rocks great lyricists of the last decade, but damn sometimes these angsty emo lyrics get a little tired, and disappointly he seems to be heading back to the more emo-punk roots of Cursive's early material. I mean, this isn't like what emo is NOW (guyliner and long shitty song titles and bedazzled hoodies), but the salad days of emo back in the mid 90s, so it has that going for it. Sadly, it lacks a lot the smarts of the last few Cursive albums. Still better than most stuff out there. Fuck I'm torn on this album. Part of me enjoys it, and the other part of me is longing for an album like "Domestica" or "The Ugly Organ". This is probably a smarter move monetarily though, as the shit I like isn't usually the same stuff that connects with 14 yr. olds in tight dick-pants. Dick pants are back and people like me who are old and out of touch can suck it.
